Houston, TX – ABC 13 reported that two people were killed in a wrong-way crash. According to investigating officers, the tragic accident occurred around 12:15 a.m. at North Beltway and Veterans Memorial in Houston, TX. One vehicle was driving westbound in the eastbound lane when it crashed head on with the other vehicle.
One person died at the scene and the other died at the hospital.
Police do not know why the driver was driving in the wrong direction.
Police suggest all night drivers scan the roadway to look for headlights. If you see headlights, move over to the right lane because drunk drivers will frequently drive in the right, or “slow” lane, hoping to avoid detection by police. Unfortunately, the perceived “slow” lane for the wrong-way drunk driver is the “fast” lane for the driver driving in the correct direction.
