Auto-Pedestrian Accidents

Auto-pedestrian accidents are one of the leading causes of auto-related crash deaths in the United States.  Often, these accidents involve alcohol-impaired drivers and pedestrians.  Children and older adults are more often involved in auto-pedestrian accidents.

To decrease the chance of being involved in an auto-pedestrian accident, consider doing the following:

  • Carry a flashlight or headlamp if walking at night
  • No jaywalking; cross at designated crosswalks
  • Stay on the sidewalks
  • Walk towards traffic
  • Don’t be distracted with earbuds or headphones, which can prevent full hearing
