What Is A T-Bone Accident?

When the front of one motor vehicle strikes the side of another motor vehicle, it resembles a “T” at the point of impact.  This type of side collision is often referred to as a “T-bone” accident. T-bone accidents can cause serious personal injury or death, particularly for the motor vehicle being struck on its side. The driver of that vehicle is only protected by the door.  Regardless, depending on the speed and size of the vehicles, everyone involved in a T-bone accident is at risk.

T-bone accidents typically occur at intersections. A driver may run a red light or other traffic control device and cause the accident. However, T-bone accidents can occur elsewhere such as a parking lot or highway.  Wherever a T-bone accident occurs, those injured may have legal recourse to recover financial compensation for personal injuries and other damages from the at-fault party.

In some circumstances, the drivers involved in a T-bone accident may both have fault in causing or contributing to the accident. One or both drivers may argue each had the right of way. It’s critical to hire a lawyer immediately to collect important evidence to establish the cause of the T-bone accident and who is legally responsible for any injuries or property damage. posts these articles to keep the Greater Houston community informed about traffic accidents and other news.
